History
Luke Carlson is an inhabitant of the Sky Island, Oberolis, which hovers above Athenaeus in a gigantic, indestructible cloud. The Skythens of Oberolis are refined nobles who look down upon humans of Athenaeus as a "lower" species. He, indifferent from the other Skythens, disgusted by humans and other beings that dont reside on Oberolis alike.
Luke sees himself superior to non-Skythens and considers them inferior. He has quite an infamous name for being snobbish. Fellow valedictorian of the renowned Oberolis Military Institute, Luke is honoured as one of the toughest Skythens of the elite class of Skythenian warriors in Oberolis.
On the day of his wedding with his ravishing fiancee, Faye, Oberolis was suddenly taken by surprise by a gang of Barbarians whom have always detested the Carlsons. They charged into the ceremony, and massacared as many people as they can in the church. The Barbarians have rode wyverns up to Oberolis, using quantity strategically, to overpower quality.
On that fateful day, Faye was mercilessly murdered when a Barbarian threw a stray axe at her. It was gory indeed, and everything happened so fast, Luke was stunned and rendered powerless to stop them.
After Faye's unfortunate demise, Luke grew recklessly vengeful of the Barbarians. He set off to avenge his deceased sweetheart, unknown of his true destiny, and the dire consequences that await him.
Special Abilities
1. Superhuman Strength & Reflexes
- The physical prowess of an average Skythen is generally superior to an average human man. Luke is however, no ordinary Skythen.
- As mentioned above, Luke is a top scholar of the Oberolis Military Institute and hence is excellent in both armed and unarmed combat.
2. Levitation
- Being able to devy gravity is a Skythen's most prominent trait. They can easily lift themselves off the ground a few metres into the air and manipulate their movements at will.
- By the age of 10, average Skythen, male or female, should be able to completely harness this ability at ease. Gifted Skythens such as Luke have mastered Levitation at an age as early as 6. A Skythen should be able to fly by the time he/she becomes an adult (approximately above the age of 17).
- This talent of flight however, requires a great deal of energy, especially when travelling long distances. The energy used up for a Skythen to travel 1 mile is comparatively the same amount a fully-grown man uses to swim the same distance.
3. Light Energy Generation
- Only the strongest Skythens have perfected the art of Light Energy generation. Light Energy, being a tradition of the natives of Oberolis, is a magical art practised widely by Skythen warriors.
- Every Skythen is born to be capable of harnessing Light Energy as it is similar to Levitation. These talents flow within the veins of Skythens, defining the difference between them and humans.
- To be able to generate Light Energy, a Skythen must be physically and mentally fit. It requires years of practice and patience to unlock the power within them. Once the user reaches optimum concentration, he can unleash Light Energy through the palm of his hands.
- A fully charged Light Beam is lethal, capable to burning through holes in the hardest of alloys.
- Light Energy is unfortunately difficult to generate if the user is severely hurt. A known side effect is that it degrades the user's physical endurance. Frequent discharges of Light Energy also weakens the user's ability to Levitate.
- To counter the above problems, Skythens have invented the ultimate weapon - the Skythenian Spear. Specially for the use of Skythens, these exclusive spears are designed to intensify and channel the user's Light beams.
- The Spears provide pinpoint accuracy for the user, hence reducing the probability of misfire. It also reduces the amount of energy and focus to generate Light Beams.
- Skythenian Spear Mastery
